Prairie Moon Mukluks are hand-made from start to finish

The most impressive feature of the mukluks and moccasins is the hand beading. Native American beading dates back centuries and is known for it's details. Most beading artists learn at a very young age from their grandmothers and mothers. The beading tells a story of the artist's family and band. Certain colors and designs are distinctive to particular bands and areas where the native americans lived. This is a tradition that is still followed today.

Below is Betty Fiddler beading a set of vamps to be made into mukluks.

An important part of the mukluks is the sole which is covered in a rubberized crepe material. This makes the mukluks outdoor footwear. It protects your foot from getting wet in winter. It is a flexible material and should not be confused with a china knock off mukluks. The sole of a knock off mukluk from china is very thick and a moled sole of about half an inch.

Below you will see the thinner authentic mukluk sole made of the crepe.

WARNING:

HOW TO TELL A FAKE:

Below this is a knock off mukluk from china. As you can see it has a thicker 1/2" molded sole which even has the size stamped on it. This is the biggest tell tale sign that the mukluks are not real and are made in china. As well, Prairie Moon is the only manufacturer that makes the speckled black and speckled tobacco mukluks. They are 100% Canadian made by Prairie Moon. Any other site selling this color combination is absolutely selling a knock off.
